Dick is also Chairman of the Investment Committee and member of the Finance Committee, St. Joseph Health System, Orange, California; Member of the Audit Committee of Ascension Health, St. Louis, Missouri; and member of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Chairman of the Finance Committee of St. Cloud State University Foundation. Before Retirement, Dick was CFO of Allina Health System, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dick was the CFO for Allina and one of it’s family tree members (United Hospitals, Healthone, Health One, Health Span) for 28 hears. Prior to Allina, Dick was with Arthur Anderson and Co for 10 years. Dick has been the State and National Chairman of HFMA and has been a member of various not-for-profit boards of directors.

Mark Durishan has an extensive background in a wide variety of healthcare financial settings. Most recently he was CFO (retired) of Extendicare, Inc. one of the largest North American providers of post-acute care, with a market cap of over 1 billion dollars. Mr. Durishan’s prior appointments include CFO for BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota and CFO of the Graduate Health System. At Coopers & Lybrand he was the partner responsible for health care consulting for the Mid-Atlantic region. Mr. Durishan also held a faculty appointment at Temple University where he was a professor of finance in the graduate health program.

A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, he has served as an elected member of the American Hospital Association House of Delegates and in 1987 was chairman of the Governing Council of the American Hospital Association’s Section for Health Care Systems. He is a former national president the Hospital Management Systems Society(now HMISS), and has served as a member of the Editorial Board of Hospital and Health Services Administration.

She was Assistant Vice President at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Peter Bent Brigham Division. Mrs. Pelham was a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA. She holds a B.A. from Smith College and a M.P.A. from Harvard University.

Prior to joining Yale-New Haven, Mr. Smith was previously with Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and the University of Minnesota Health Sciences Center in Minneapolis. He presently serves on the board of IPC-The Hospitalist Company, Kinetic Concepts, Inc., Neoforma, Inc., Horizon Health and Renal Care Group. MODERN HEALTHCARE magazine named Mr. Smith one of the 25 most influential health care leaders of the last 25 years in 2001, and in 2002 the magazine’s readers selected him as #4 among the 100 Most Influential People in health care.

He was President and CEO of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian from 1975 until his retirement in September, 2005. Prior to this position he was the Administrator of the Greenville General Division of the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. He has been the recipient of numerous industry and community awards.

Weiner Award, in his honor, is given each year to an individual demonstrating leadership, innovation and excellence in children’s health. He currently serves as President and CEO of the Boston Latin School Association.

Mr. Zaccagnino previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the system and hospital from 1978-1991. He is past Chairman of the Board of the National Committee for Quality Health Care and past Chairman of the Board of the Medical Center Insurance Company, LTD., Bermuda. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of: VHA, Inc. (past Chairman), New Alliance Bancshares, Inc. (NYSE) and the University of Connecticut School of Business Administration. He is a lecturer on the faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and an Associate Fellow of Silliman College. He has been recognized for his contributions including receiving Yale University’s John D. Thompson Visiting Fellowship Award and its Distinguished Alumni Award and was he inducted into the University of Connecticut’s School of Business Administration’s Hall of Fame.

He chairs its Committee on the Future of Emergency Care in the United States Health System. He chairs the board of the National Quality Forum, the Healthcare Research and Development Institute and the newly created National Center for Healthcare Leadership. He has received numerous honors and awards and is one of the most recognized leaders in the healthcare industry. In 2001 Modern Health Care Magazine named him one of the top 25 most influential individuals in the industry over the past 25 years. Yale University presented him with the first Thompson Visiting Fellowship Award, and the National Committee for Quality Assurance gave him the Health Quality Award. In 2000 he received the American Hospital Association’s Distinguished Service Award, its highest leadership recognition, and the Health Research and Educational Trust gave him the first Walter J. McNerney Fellowship Award for Health System Improvement. In 1999 he received the American College of Health Care Executives’ Gold Medal Award, its highest honor.
