Tom Sawyer is a Vice President in our Atlanta office. He has worked with a wide variety of firms that provide services to the healthcare industry. These include ambulatory care programs, real estate investment services, large not-for-profit health delivery systems and equity start up ventures.
Mr. Sawyer has an extensive background as one of the early participants in the evolution of the managed care model into the healthcare market place. This included serving as a founder and Chairman of HMO, TPA and PPO organizations. He also served as Board Committee chairman for the SunHealth organization in its early managed care strategy development initiatives. In such capacities, he has been involved with wide segments of the provider related managed care industry. From 1981 until 1997, Mr. Sawyer served as CEO of the General Health System in Baton Rouge, LA. This organization was a fully integrated provider delivery system. General Health owned and operated the largest diversified managed care organization in the area providing HMO, TPA and PPO services to clients in several states.
Mr. Sawyer received his B.S. in Accounting and his MBA from Louisiana Tech University. He is past president of the Hospital Financial Management Association-LA. Chapter, past chairman of the Louisiana Hospital Association, past chairman of SunHealth, Inc. and past board member of Premier, the largest healthcare group purchasing organization in the country.
