Eric Coburn is a Managing Director of Shattuck Hammond Partners and has over 17 years of experience advising a broad array of healthcare providers and payors throughout the United States. Mr. Coburn has worked with provider-sponsored and publicly-traded companies, and his transactional experience includes mergers and acquisitions, valuations, going private transactions, strategic advisory services, tax-exempt and taxable debt financings, and IPO advisory services. He assisted Health Net (NYSE: HNT) with the divestiture or acquisition of ten managed care companies. His other recent clients include: The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, SafeGuard Health Enterprises, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Private Healthcare Systems, Senior Care Centers of America and Home Health Corporation of America.
Mr. Coburn regularly advises managed care companies, hospitals, long-term care companies and ancillary providers such as clinical laboratories and home health companies. He played a lead role in advising The West Penn Allegheny Health System on the acquisition of the western Pennsylvania hospitals of the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation. He was also involved in subsequent debt restructuring and tax-exempt debt refinancing, including participation in the largest healthcare, non-investment grade tax-exempt bond offering ever completed.
Mr. Coburn earned his B.A. degree from Wesleyan University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He has also written and is a frequent guest speaker on a range of topics in healthcare finance. He is one of the lead authors of the "State of the Managed Care Industry", an industry white paper published annually by Shattuck Hammond.
